The New York City Marathon has the highest entry fee: $266. There are several low key marathons without an entry fee.

The median marathon entry fee for 2011 races is $75. There are currently 63 marathons with an entry fee over $100.

In 2010 44,712 people finished the New York City Marathon. Canada's largest marathon was the Ottawa Marathon with 3,865. So far, the New York City Marathon has had the most in 2011 with 46,795 finishers.

The Newfoundland Provincial Marathon in St. Johns, NL is the farthest East and the Kauai Marathon in Poipu, HI is the farthest West.

The Equinox Marathon in Fairbanks, AK is the northernmost and the Kona Marathon in Kailua-Kona, HI is the southernmost.

The Running with the Devil Marathon in Boulder City, NV has the highest race day average temperature at 89F/31C. At the other extreme, the Yukon Arctic Marathon in Whitehorse, YT has an average race day temperature of only 10 F/-12C.

The coldest marathon in the United States is Hudson Mohawk Winter Marathon in Albany, NY with an average race day temperature of only 26 F / -3 C.
