From the race website - The Colorado Marathon, a Boston qualifier, is the fastest and most scenic marathon in Colorado. The Colorado Marathon course has repeatedly been claimed to be the most scenic course in America. The thrill of running down the Poudre River Canyon in the Colorado Rockies is an experience and a memory that will last a lifetime.

The average elevation on the course is around 5400 feet with a maximum near 6100 and minimum just below 5000 feet. This elevation may adversely affect many runners, especially those not acclimated to the high altitude.
