From the race website - As a relatively flat and fast course, it has become a favorite local qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. The course is a nice mix of historic urban and rural neighborhoods as the race starts in Downtown Providence and heads south towards the East Bay and Barrington, Rhode Island. The tree lined East Bay Bike path provides plenty of shade and scenic views of the Providence river and skyline.
The Cox Sports Marathon was the 85th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 81st largest in 2014.
Last year 12.7% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 9.8% of runners qualified for Boston in 2014.
