The Frank Maier Marathon is a small town, out-and-back, moderately hilly, race run on the lightly traveled two-lane paved Douglas and North Douglas highways in Juneau Alaska.
The scenic course offers views of mountains, glaciers, forests, and the ocean. The start/finish is at the new picnic shelter at Sandy Beach, Savikko Park, in Douglas.
The Frank Maier Marathon was the 466th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 431st largest in 2015.
This year 4.4% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 10.5% of runners qualified for Boston in 2016.
This gives the Frank Maier Marathon the 188th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in the U.S. last year and the 277th highest percentage so far in 2017.
