The Great Woods Marathon is a multi-loop-style marathon held in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on the grounds of the Xfinity Center. The course consists of a flat, fast, and fully closed 2-mile asphalt loop that runners complete 13 times (plus a 0.2 mile start segment).

Great Boston Qualifier.

Full Review:

If you are trying to PR or qualify for Boston, this is your race. Hands-down Extremely fast course. You can have a family member or friend be at the same spot every 2 miles and give needed fluids or gels, etc. They also have a table at the 2 mile mark if you want to put your drinks if you don’t have a family member or friend to hand them to you. Also have Gatorade and water supplied. Nice shirt. Great Music over loud speakers. Easy number pick up. As far as amenities very few but most people will run this race not for the amenities or the scenery but for a fast time or Boston qualifier. I enjoyed thoroughly. Again I didn’t do it for the amenities or the scenery. I did it to qualify for Boston.

Race Tips:

This is a 2 mile loop course so they can only have so many runners. I believe 200 is the limit. I would sign up early for next year.

Travel/Logistics Tips:

Mansfield is a small town so travel to Greatwoods was easy. Literally pulled in the parking lot and was at the starting line within 2 minutes. Low number of runners so Port-a John’s were easy to access. Very low-key.
